Description
One of metal’s most influential outfits, Newcastle’s Venom have had a lasting impact on some of rock’s biggest names, including Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer, and the weight of their recorded output (starting with the wonderfully disturbing Welcome To Hell in 1981) continues to be deeply felt. Fast, furious, tight and terrifying, not to mention the force behind an entire musical genre (Black Metal, the title of their classic ’82 album), Venom make one hell of a glorious racket, with Cronos’ signature bulldozer bass’ well to the fore. Welcome To Hell displays common speed metal elements and has a decidedly darker and doomed feel. This 40th anniversary colored vinyl LP reissue comes in an embossed sleeve, with a reproduction of the original lyric bag and poster.
