Description
Incendiary raw hardcore punk featuring members of Totalitar, Extended Hell, Subversive Rite and more. Heart pounding, fist pumping, tooth gnashing Swedish style hardcore punk with those trademark vocals. With the people in the streets and cities in flames, we need radical hardcore punk like this to remind us that hardcore punk is a movement of protest and social change.
The band and labels decided that after the unrest this summer, we didn’t want things to go back to “business as usual” but remind people that hardcore punk is more than a fashion. $1 from each record sold will be donated to Club A in NYC a punk/activist run mutual aid organization providing food, hygenic/PPE materials, and other resources to the Bushwick/Bed-Stuy community.
Our take: This weeks second Atlantic Ocean-spanning band is Humant Blod, whose members are spread across New York City and Sweden. Jeff covered the background info when he chose Flykten Frn Verkligheten as his staff pick back in August, but the short version is that Jesse and Mike from Extended Hell hooked up with Joe B from Fairtytale and Condominium, cooked up a batch of the ferocious d-beat hardcore they have perfected, and Poffen from Totalitar and Mattis from Dissekerad flew over to New York for a weekend to add vocals and guitar. Youd be right to have sky-high expectations given this group of musicians, but Flykten Frn Verkligheten does not disappoint. This is one of the most blistering, crushing, and uncompromising records since well, the Extended Hell LP! Its what you want it to be in every way, a relentless onslaught of crushing heaviness. This records first press sold out instantly, which isnt surprising because if youre a hardcore fanatic youll need this in your collection the second you hear it. Fortunately, Desolate and Havoc are keeping it in print for those of you who are slower on the uptake.
