Description
Through his many bands and projects, James Trejo has single-handedly defined the sound of modern hardcore. With his unparalleled aggression and mastery of form, he has elevated the genre to levels previously unimagined. At the center of his focus stands his longest-running and most violent endeavor, CADAVER DOG. Since its inception in 2012, Trejo has written all of the band’s material, allowing him to craft songs free from interference to achieve his vision of what Hardcore ought to be. On top of performing every instrument, he has often handled the studio production himself, including this recording. While most bands become cleaner sounding and more accessible with time, Trejo has gone in the opposite direction. His increasingly complex and chaotic chord progressions, matched with his rawest production yet, have resulted in the pinnacle of the band’s sound with Bred to Fight.
On this follow up to 2018’s Dying Breed, Trejo has created an 8-song classic of abrasive Hardcore at its breaking point. Delivered in his inimitable style and achieving a timelessness that many seek but few grasp, Trejo has unleashed a work of determination and perseverance fused in a barrage of cold hostility. Mastered by Will Killinsgworth at Dead Air Studios for maximum impact, CADAVER DOG towers above us without peer.
